Capturing a building in early evening or at twilight can create beautiful imagery that will often convey more interest than the same view during daylight hours. The challenge is always to correctly expose the three key elements; first, the sky at the right time produces a beautiful indigo blue colour that often lasts only a short while. Second, the building itself will mostly look black in a photograph at twilight, but there are techniques to expose and even light the dark areas to provide a minimum amount of definition. Third, the windows (with lights on inside) and external lighting have to be exposed correctly too.

All of this creates a complex set of challenges for the photographer, but this is an area we specialise in – please see the images below.
